Landscaping in the Winter
Many people think that landscaping can only be done during the spring, summer and autumn months of the year because no-one will want to work outside in the blistering cold and rain… will they?
Well the answer to that is YES. Companies such as Graduate Landscapes operate 12 months of the year so no matter the weather the garden of your dreams can become a reality!
But what’s the point of getting a garden renovated during the worst months of the year?
Well that’s simple to answer… how often do you use your garden during the winter months? I bet your answer is hardly at all or never! So, getting your garden make-over complete during the winter months or the months your garden is used least will mean your garden is summer ready!
But the benefits don’t stop there! We have 5 reasons to get your garden done this winter instead of waiting for spring, summer or autumn!
1. TOP LANDSCAPERS WORK ALL YEAR ROUND… BUT THE WAIT WILL BE A LOT SHORTER
It’s typical for top landscaping companies to have a huge waiting list over the summer months because people will be dreaming of their perfect outdoor space, causing your dream to be put on hold!
The forward thinkers amongst us arrange their dream garden to be designed and built during the winter months, this means they have the whole of spring and summer to enjoy their brand new garden!
2. LESS DISRUPTION TO YOU AND YOUR NEIGHBOURS
Garden makeovers are disruptive, there’s no getting round it, landscaping involves machinery, materials and deliveries to the site, that’s a lot of noise to put up with! Not only that your garden will mostly be out of bounds at times due to health and safety, setting concrete, or just because its unpleasant to walk on underfoot.
BUT because you’ve chosen to complete these works in winter you won’t need to use your garden, your windows will most likely be shut and you will be warm inside while we are constructing the garden of your dreams!
3. GARDEN LIGHTING AND DRAINAGE CAN BE TESTED THOROUGHLY DURING WORKING HOURS
This may seem like a weird point to bring up at first… but winter are our wettest months giving your drainage system a good testing! This means that any issues that arise can be overcome and rectified early in the construction process!
Not only that, but also due to the darker time of year, your lighting can be seen by the workers ensuring that it’s operating correctly and looks exactly how you envisaged!
4. WILDLIFE IS LESS LIKELY TO BE DISTURBED
In wintertime there is a little less wildlife to be disturbed. Birds are not nesting, bees are not foraging, hedgehogs are hibernating, and butterflies are nowhere to be seen. We’re still very vigilant but less likely to have to compromise with creatures. Which means that we can be a lot more efficient.
5. MOST TREES AND PLANTS ARE DORMANT AND LEAST LIKELY TO BE AFFECTED WORKS
It is best to plan trees and plants while they are dormant (generally during winter months) as this won’t affect their growth and will give you the best out of each of your plants and tress (not to mention they get watered for free by our winter weather!)
